Kenya is located on Africa’s east coast. It started out as a British colony and gained its own independence in 1963. Between 30 and 40 ethnic groups live in Kenya. Swahili and English are the official languages. About 80 percent of Kenyans work in agriculture, but tourism brings the most money to the country.
Coffee was first introduced in Kenya in 1893. It is a known fact that the best Arabica coffee in the world is grown in Kenya! The coffee industry is known for its high percentage of production from small, community farms. Today around 250,000 Kenyans are employed in the production of coffee, but Kenyan coffee farmers are still considered among the poorest in the world.
Our 100% pure Kenyan coffee is cupped at AA, the highest quality available. It has distinct notes of blackcurrant and fruity undertones that magnify as it cools. Kenya’s ideal climate and altitude create a brew unparalleled worldwide. All of our Kenyan beans are direct trade, so the money goes directly to the farmers – which in turn is helping build and support the local communities and villages.
We have had the privilege of visiting the coffee farms and meeting these farmers, and their passion for what they do is incredible!
Thank you for helping bring change to the world, one bean at a time!
What is single origin coffee?
Single origin coffee is coffee grown within a single geographic origin. This means the beans come from a single farm, or from a single country. Single origins allow the roaster to cultivate unique flavors that reflect the origin of the beans. Single origins are a great way to experience the flavors of places you might never have the opportunity to visit!
